A Christchurch couple are grateful to their live-saving smoke alarms, according to a New Zealand Herald report.
“We had no idea fire had taken hold of the property until the smoke alarms went off,” Marie Musson said.
Luckily the recently upgraded smoke alarms were in good working order.
It’s not the same in other cases and the Christchurch couple’s experience is a reminder to us all of the importance of inspections (carried out by professionals including Jim’s Building Inspections for my fellow Australians).
Says Smoke Alarm Professionals chief executive Cameron Davis: “Nobody thinks it’ll happen to them, but home fires will claim the life of at least one person this month.”
It’s an important topic for families to consider now as we head into the warmer months. “The best investment families, landlords and property managers can make this summer is up-to-date, working smoke alarms.”
