Here’s an all too familiar story from the Newcastle Herald: A Glendale property is demolished after its owners found deadly loose-fill asbestos insulation.
This type of asbestos was relatively popular in the1960s and 1970s.
Science now tells us that loose-fill asbestos poses a risk to health because airborne fibres can move from the ceiling into living areas.
“Since June 2014, the ACT government has bought back more than $670 million worth of loose-fill asbestos insulation properties,” notes the Newcastle Herald.
And: “In NSW, more than 65,000 properties have been tested since December 2014 with 149 positive results.”
Thankfully, one way in which to avoid danger is to contact your local Jim’s Building Inspections. They can help you navigate through any potential issues in a safety-first manner.
While the subject is sometimes hard to think about it, delaying isn’t the solution. Your health should be paramount.
