About the Inspector
With over three decades in the building industry, I bring extensive hands-on experience and a deep understanding of residential construction. I began my career after finishing school in 1992, starting a carpentry apprenticeship and gaining my trade licence in 1996. I then spent several years working as a carpenter, carrying out all aspects of residential carpentry.
In 2001, I completed my certificate IV in Building, obtaining a Class I unrestricted building licence. The following year, I founded Shimera Homes, which I successfully operated for 24 years. During this time, I delivered more than 130 new homes, including luxury residence, large-scale townhouse developments, as well as numerous renovations and additions. I worked closely with clients, designers and trades to ensure every project was completed to a high standard, on time and with careful attention to detail.
As I transition from full-time building, I decided to join Jim’s Building Inspections. Now I’m able to apply my 30+ years of industry knowledge and experience to provide clear, practical, and independent building inspections, giving clients confidence through honest, informed advice.
Outside of work, I enjoy staying active through motorcycle riding, mountain biking, skiing, and playing soccer – activities I especially value sharing with my family.
