Steve’s journey in the building industry began at the age of 15, working part-time on weekends and school holidays as a labourer for both a residential builder and plumber—skilled Dutch craftsmen who instilled in him a strong and lasting work ethic.

He went on to complete a carpentry and joinery apprenticeship in the commercial sector. After managing numerous commercial construction projects, undertaking several building-related tertiary courses, and engaging in various business ventures, Steve became a registered Domestic Builder and later a Commercial Builder. He eventually acquired the very company where he had once been an apprentice.

With over 40 years of experience in the construction industry, Steve saw the opportunity to channel his extensive knowledge into a business model that upholds high industry standards while offering a valuable service to clients. A Jim’s Building Inspections franchise proved to be the perfect fit.

When he’s not on the job, Steve enjoys spending time on the water at Lake Eildon, sampling wines in the Yarra Valley, or lending a hand to his children with their many renovation rescue-style projects.
