Building Inspector Finds … Nothing.

Sometimes it’s what you don’t see during a building inspection that’s the problem.

In this property, it looks like the original posts that once supported the building have been taken out.   While it’s easy to see why – the gorgeous rural view would be hard to block – these posts play a crucial role in supporting the front eaves.

Missing Building Structures Identified

Our building inspection has revealed that without the potential buyer putting those posts back in place, the sagging of the eaves will get worse over time and will  likely cause more building defects to develop.

Downpipe Disconnected & Removed

Oh, and there’s also the not so small matter of a missing downpipe – the one responsible for funneling water away from the property and into the stormwater drainage system.   Our building inspector flagged this as an important issue that needs attention pronto!

Remember, folks: Before you get too heavy handed on demolition day, it might just be there for a reason.

Other Demolition Dangers to Watch Out For:

  • Cutting through structural walls or beams without realising they’re load-bearing
  • Damage to electrical, plumbing or gas lines embedded in walls or floors
  • Asbestos or lead dust from older materials
  • Undermining the foundations of adjoining structures in shared buildings
